For first time home buyers the act of buying and moving into a new home can be incredibly intimidating..
Once you get through the home shopping experience, crazy real estate market, and contract period, to finally get your keys.. you then have to furnish the place and buy all the right home owner necessities.
The downfall of owning your own home is you now have to maintain and repair it. No longer can you submit a repairs request on your online apartment portal and have someone else take care of the cost. But don’t worry, let’s get equipped with all the items you will need as a homeowner!

One would think this would be low on the priority list.. but if you’ve lived in Florida you know the side effects of hard water on your hair and skin. This shower filter is $25 on Amazon and can easily be installed to reduce harmful substances such as chlorine, heavy metals, impurities, unpleasant odors, and inhibit the growth of scale, providing you with the cleanest and most comfortable water flow.
This is a great option if your house doesn’t yet have those costly water softener systems. I’d also consider a good water filtration system for your drinking water!!

Spend $23 on amazon to potentially save your life with this device. It sends out a warning signal indicating dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in your home. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer, you wont smell it or know it’s there until its too late, unless you have a detector. I’m sure you could get an even fancier one that connects to your app so you’re alerted when you’re not home as well. Especially important if you have natural gas lines running to your house for your cooking appliances.
Fire Proof Safe
This is one of those things no one WANTS to spend the money on, but are always glad they did. A place to store important documents and some cash incase of an emergency. Check out your options on Amazon.

Sometimes spending a little money, saves you a lot of money. The Nest Thermostat is a must as you can schedule your temperature changes AND monitor the temperature of your home through an app while you’re away. If you’ve lived in Florida long, you know temperatures can fluctuate from day to day and leaving your A/C kicking all day can be a costly mistake!
