The original brick streets perfectly complimenting the historic bungalows and colonial-style homes. The best neighborhoods in St Petersburg reflect the city’s blend of culture, natural beauty and preservation. 

#1 Historic Old Ne

Notably one of the best neighborhoods in St Petersburg, Old Ne is walking distance to the Tampa Bay waterfront and all that downtown St Pete has to offer. 

Our favorite thing about Old Ne is it’s walkability. It’s incredibly peaceful to walk through the neighborhood and enjoy the diversity of homes. You can walk to the waterfront, volleyball courts, the beach at North Shore Park. Along the way you might see manatees & Dolphins off Coffee Pot Bayou or private planes taking off from the airport downtown St Petersburg.

The architectural styles of the homes in the Old Northeast range from Craftsman bungalows to Mediterranean Revival & Colonial Revival. In recent years there have been some beautiful new homes replacing empty lots and run down homes.

As of 2023 home values in Old Ne range from $530,000 to 3,200,000. The Average sale price in the last 6 months is right around $1.3 million.

#2 Downtown St Pete

If you’re a city person and prefer a townhome or condo overlooking Tampa Bay, downtown St Pete is without a doubt the best neighborhood in St Petersburg for you! It’s a growing city, still small enough to feel quaint and welcoming, but offering enough to keep a city person occupied. 

Bustling with activity, there’s plenty to explore with the various entertainment and culinary options. We live right near downtown and it feels like every week we drive through and see new restaurant openings and shops!  St. Pete boasts a thriving arts and cultural scene as it’s home to numerous art galleries, museums, and theaters, making it an attractive destination for those interested in the arts. 

The downtown area has several beautiful waterfront parks and restaurants,  where you can enjoy a stroll along the waterfront or dinner beside the Marina. 

St. Petersburg hosts various events and festivals throughout the year. The city is particularly renowned for its Grand Prix racing, the St. Pete Pride Festival, and the boat show. 

Other notable traits of Downtown St Pete are the St Pete Pier, marinas, the private airport, Rowdies Stadium and Tropicana Field. 

If you want the Downtown St Pete life but you don’t want to live in a condo or townhome, definitely recommend Historic Old North East where you can walk or take your golf cart downtown. 

The average sale price for condos and townhomes in downtown St Pete, including the Edge District and Grand Central is 1.2 million. The highest-sold condo in the last year was a $7.4 million penthouse with breathtaking views of Tampa Bay.

#3 Crescent Lake

If you’re looking for one of the best neighborhoods in St Petersburg that is also family-friendly, you really can’t go wrong with any options on this list. Crescent Lake neighborhood, however, has an awesome lakefront park and walking loop. The kiddos can come play at the play ground, feed the ducks and walk the dog around the lake! 

Considered one of the best neighborhoods in St Petersburg due to its proximity to downtown and the charming mix of architectural styles, including Craftsman-style and Mediterranean Revival homes. 

The average sale price of homes sold in Crescent Lake neighborhood in the last year is $790,000. The highest being $1.3 million. Homes in this neighborhood are going for right around $428 a square foot. 

#3 Historic Uptown

As the name suggests, Historic Uptown is known for its historic charm and architectural diversity.

The neighborhood is home to a mix of architectural styles, including Craftsman-style bungalows, Mediterranean Revival homes, and historic apartment buildings. Many of these structures have been well-preserved, contributing to the neighborhood’s unique character.

Located just north of downtown, Historic Uptown is one of the best neighborhoods in St Petersburg walking distance to downtown with a combination of residential neighborhoods, parks, and shopping districts.

#4 Historic Kenwood

#5 Euclid-St Pauls

This is also a great family-friendly neighborhood just a short drive from Downtown St Petersburg. Residents enjoy annual events, porch parties, and community involvement through the voluntary HOA.

#6 Snell Isle / Venetian Isle

This waterfront area of St Petersburg is situated along the eastern shore of Tampa Bay. It’s known for its upscale homes, many of which have beautiful water views. Some houses are situated with views of Downtown St Petersburg or Downtown Tampa. Honestly, there are very few neighborhoods that won’t offer the unique, charming characteristics that are St Pete. If you reach out directly I can show you a few areas you might want to avoid. The development in St Pete is still so young and therefore hasn’t spread to some areas that may be a bit more dangerous or not as well-kept.
